First Time Coming to Fallbrook,, California – Did You Know?
Fallbrook, California was first settled in 1869, by a family who came from Pennsylvania. They kept the name of their previous home and gave it to this new area. In and around the 1920s, olives were a major commodity in Fallbrook. By the end of the Second World War, avocados took over as the major crop. Fallbrook is now widely known for its avocados, and is often called the avocado capitol of the world.
Fallbrook’s population is around 30,000, and has been home to some notable people. Director Frank Capra owned a ranch in Fallbrook, and grew olives back in the 1940s and 50s. Famous skateboarder Tony Hawk made this his home in the past, along with Rita Coolidge and Tom Selleck.
Wildfires found their way to Fallbrook in 2007, prompting an evacuation. Over 200 buildings were burned due to the raging fires.
Fallbrook is about six miles from the closest major highway, and used to be a stagecoach stop for travelers headed to San Diego.
Scenic attractions in the area include the Myrtle Creek Botanical Gardens and Nursery. Stroll around the beautiful gardens and get ideas on how to make your own special relaxing spot. They have a café and gift shop and are known for their awesome pies. Another place of beauty is the Grand Tradition Estate and Gardens. Wander through beautiful gardens, past calming waterfalls, and lunch at the Victorian restaurant for some delicious food and impeccable service.

If you want to get away for a bit, take a drive to the coast and visit San Onofre State Beach. This 3,000 acre park is a popular place for surfing, and also offers biking, swimming and even camping.
