First Time Coming to Pacific Beach, California – Did You Know?

Pacific Beach is a great city to visit if you like good food, great shopping and awesome nightlife. Developed back in the late 1800s, the railroad is what originally brought early settlers to the area. In 1902, you could buy ocean front property for as little as $350. The price went up to around $12,000 by 1950, and today the prices for a home here range into the millions.

Famous musician Eddie Vedder, signer for Pearl Jam, grew up here, as well as comedian Pauly Shore and many professional surfers.

A unique feature about Pacific Beach is the street names. The north –south streets were named after federal officials, and go in alphabetical order. The east-west streets are named after precious stones, including turquoise, sapphire, diamond and emerald.

Pacific Beach, or PB as it is known by the locals, is a largely younger populated community. Surfing is extremely popular here, which brings in a lot of college aged residents. This also makes it a great spot for some exciting night life.

The Hookah Lab Hookah Lounge is a highly rated establishment and worth checking out whether you are a hookah expert or it’s your first time. The place gets rave reviews for the owner and atmosphere, entertainment and even a super fun game called Escape Cabin.
